WWE 2K18: Thanks to the likes of developers and publishers such as EA and 2K who are hard at work to deliver a new game in sporting categories every year, we can come closer than ever to living the life of a real sportsperson. And with gaming technology advancing the way it has been over the last couple of years, there have been some massive improvements in the gameplay of these titles.
2K, in particular is responsible for some of the biggest franchises which just keep getting better and better with every year. This year too will be no different, and for wrestling fans, there is a lot on the line with what the creators have to offer with this year’s WWE 2K18.
The WWE 2K series has been in existence for a long time now, and in its nearly two decade long existence, it has undergone some significant changes, including its creators as well as the title of the series. But none of that has been able to disrupt the steady growing success that the franchise has seen with each new entry.
Now with WWE 2K18 coming up, it comes as no surprise that expectations are very high. Especially after the upgrades that 2016’s installment packed in, it is but normal that fans would want to see more. This is primarily because of the fact that while WWE 2K17 came with some notable new improvements, it still left a lot to be desired. But fans are more than certain that another year’s time will take the series back to its glory days. And that’s why a lot rests on the shoulders of WWE 2K18. So without further ado, let’s move on to take a look at a couple of things that we would really love to see in the upcoming game.
WWE 2K18 Features and Wishlist
A Much Needed Engine Upgrade: We can all appreciate the fact that the series has come a long way since its first arrival on the scene in 2000, but even in 2016, fans could not help but notice the general lag in terms of gameplay. On the animation front, the glitches that the games had suffered from in earlier times were much improved. However, it couldn’t really match up to the smoothness of movements that other similar sporting series offer (FIFA, for instance). All these problems can just be chalked up to one basic thing, that is, the fact that the WWE 2K series has not seen an engine upgrade in a while now. And while a new game every year requires the creators to be inventive about the features that they put in, at the end of the day, there is only so much that an older engine will be able to handle. So first things first, the most important thing that we would like to see in WWE 2K18 is an engine upgrade.
Kurt Angle in 2K Showcase: One of the reasons fans were not happy with WWE 2K17 was because the creators decided to do away with one of the most popular game modes that the series has brought in, this being the 2K Showcase. We’re sure 2K had their reasons to remove the mode that allowed wrestling fans to live out and virtually experience their most historical moments in the ring, but that did result in weaker sales. So for WWE 2K18, we are quite certain that the 2K Showcase is making a comeback, and with an Olympic medalist at its centre no less. This is based on the long running rumor that Kurt Angle might be making a comeback to professional wrestling in 2017, and that would make him the perfect choice to be included in WWE 2K18.
We expect WWE 2K18 to be released sometime during the first week of October this year for the consoles, with a PC release following soon after. But despite there being no confirmations about the WWE 2K18 release date yet, fans are waiting in anticipation to see what new changes the next entry will bring in. In our opinion, we wouldn’t mind if there was a slight delay in the launch of WWE 2K18 if that’s what it takes for Visual Concepts and 2K to make it a game that we would love to come back to every time.
